overdue update

Due to a recent life changing event I've been somewhat negligent of updating this blog and various other things on my to do list as I've acquired a new job... full time Dad, I still attempt to do all the other stuff but there has been a bit of a paradigm shift in priorities, thats not a complaint mind you.... :)

More startrails craighouse hill by Morningside in Edinburgh unlike the previous post which was taken with the legendary film that is fuji velvia 50 on a 6x6 yashica medium format camera,

this was my first foray into the digital technique which involves taking a sequence of 30 second exposures and then stacking and blending them in photoshop allowing the brightest parts of each individual image to shine through, the full technique is explained on Dan Newton’s blog here

http://www.liquidinplastic.com/2008/06/startrails/

this was taken over 40 minuets on a clear night with the moon acting as a light modifer adding detail to the foreground, this was supplemented by some hand held flash to add depth and create some dramatic shadows.
